Honorable Mention: Susanna Hill’s 2023 Holiday Writing Contest

My poem, “Seeds”, was selected for an Honorable Mention in Susanna Leonard Hill’s 2023 Holiday Writing Contest for Children’s Writers!

I am thankful to Susanna Hill and all the judges, donors, readers, as well as my fellow writers who inspired me with their engaging stories. You can read all their wonderful countdown stories HERE, and discover the winners HERE.

Deepest thanks to my husband, Raymond Voelkel, for his helpful, patient, and insightful feedback on numerous drafts of this poem. He is always “on the ball,” in basketball, poetry, whatever, giving everything he does his all.

Special thanks to Habitat for Humanity and to Rockefeller Center. As a lifelong New Yorker, I thought I knew about the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree but these organizations have taught me to see this tradition in a new way.

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season! May all our creative dreams come true in 2024!
